The focus signal should appear as a small point between the speakers. Check level, distance, angle, and room symmetry if the image drifts or spreads wide.

PolarityUse the normal mode as the reference. It should sound solid and centered.

If a reversed mode sounds clearer or stronger, check the wiring and polarity settings for that side. Then run the test again.

Speaker Match & RattleCompare frequency bands first. Then run a low-frequency sweep to find buzzes or loose parts.

Use the band buttons to find the range where the speakers sound different. Hold the problem frequency and check grilles, screws, shelves, cables, and nearby objects.

Check the signal routing if the channels are swapped, silent, or playing from both speakers at once. Do this before you use the polarity or center tests.

What should I test first?

Can headphones confirm speaker polarity?

No. Headphones can demonstrate the effect, but they cannot confirm speaker cable polarity or room center image. Use real speakers in the actual listening position for that check.

System settings to check when the result seems strange
Device settings

Check the audio settings in your operating system. Turn off mono audio and accessibility audio effects. Also turn off spatial audio, Dolby processing, and browser output device changes if they are enabled.

Signal path

Check the interface outputs, mixer pan, polarity invert buttons, DSP, speaker management, and crossover settings.

Bluetooth note

Bluetooth speakers may add delay, DSP, or automatic channel routing. A wired stereo system is more reliable for polarity and wiring checks.

Headphones note

Headphones can demonstrate the effect. They cannot confirm speaker cable polarity or the center image in your room.
